“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.- John 1:5”

This is an information age we live in, where every single minute, every single second, our brain is bombarded by words and images whether written or spoken..

Your brain is created by God to process, to decipher these information so that we can release a response for our survival and ultimately to advance His Kingdom and to glorify Him.

But in this world where the enemy is constantly trying to pollute with its filth, can we be more selective in the information we choose to process?

How can we filter out the pollution from the daily bad news, the forwarded messages, the fear-mongering rumours, that we’re constantly being fed with?

Or that seemingly good piece of advice from your parents, but laced with negativity and hopelessness?

Or those opinions from your workplace, that seems to belittle you, overwhelm you with thoughts of worthlessness, that you’re just not cut out for your title or position?

Or sometimes even from your closest loved ones, in their own anger, anxiety and hopelessness, try to draw you into their capsized boat of negativity?

How can we still stand in the midst of all these ‘trouble’ which are vying for our attention?

Just like in the shopping lines, where thousands of products are ‘screaming’ at us for our choice, we do have a choice of what we put into the shopping cart.

Only in life and this fallen world, sometimes those products don’t just beg to be bagged, but they even throw darts of fire and death at us..

And sometimes when we don’t even know how to decide, thank God, we have Him who can throw out any junk we don’t need, and decide what’s best for us. We simply have to invite Him into our shopping process and continually push the cart for Him.

And He stands between us and the darts of death thrown at us…

When we carry His shield, the armor of faith and the helmet of salvation, there is a strength we carry that none of these dart-throwers will be able to penetrate.

It is a light that no darkness has overcome or will be overcome, and God says….”no matter what happens”

It is the Spirit living within us, that is alive more than ever, that will be never be consumed by death but will thrive with joy, peace, love, hope..

It is the same Spirit that will stand at a pedestal not defined by the world and its circumstances, not defeated by any fallen nature of the world and its inhabitants.

It is the same Spirit that made Him lay down His life for us, but only to rise up again and overcome death.

“Therefore, today, choose to put Life in your shopping cart. Arm yourself with His armour to shield against any shadow or darts of death thrown at you- In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen”
