38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed — or indeed only one.” Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

-Luke 10:38–42-

Thank You Lord for reminding me to fix my eyes on the eternal and not the temporary.

Thank You Lord for always welcoming me back at Your feet, even though the waves of life tend to sweep me to the hustle and bustle of the temporary.

Thank You Lord that I am not measured based on how many tasks that I accomplish for You, how many brownie points I garner in Your name…

For I know these things will eventually worry and upset me as I am dealing with a fallen world that does fail me, and I too will eventually fail myself.

But I know there’s one trustworthy place which will never fail me, which is at Your feet. That one thing I need to do which can help me exchange my temporary worries to eternal peace, which is to listen to You.

-In Jesus’ Name, Amen-
