“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.- Isaiah 40:31”
In this Pavlov-ian and transactional world where performance and rewards are always justified by how much you give, where everyone just wants a ‘piece’ of you, it’s so easy to fall into this trap where we apply the same theory to every aspect of our life…
From the mundane tasks, like your weekend spring cleaning…to even your relationships with those around you and even with God…
Today, can I find courage to face my failures?
To no longer runaway and hide,
To no longer tremble in fear,
To no longer shake with anxiety,
But to tell it to their face, those failures, past mistakes, shame, condemnation that seem towering above me..
To proclaim loudly, “I am no longer defined by you!”
The Christ in me gives me a much bigger identity..
A light which I cannot hide
The Spirit that doesn’t cower in fear, the Spirit that overcomes…
Today, can I remember, time and time again
How He stood by me in my battles
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.- John 1:5”
This is an information age we live in, where every single minute, every single second, our brain is bombarded by words and images whether written or spoken..
Your brain is created by God to process, to decipher these information so that we can release a response for our survival and ultimately to advance His Kingdom and to glorify Him.
But in this world where the enemy is constantly trying to pollute with its filth, can we be more selective in the information we choose to…
“If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”- John 15:19
“Going against the grain”
…..no, I’m not referring to trend-setters and fad-lovers who create controversies to monger attention.
These are in fact the true description of citizens who belong to a faraway land, far-off and better-off from here.
As much as these citizens tries to shy away from attention, because of these characteristics, they just can’t help but stand…
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day”- 2 Corinthians 4:16
Being a task-oriented person, I just feel I’m a perpetual machine, forever churning out output, outcomes, accomplishments….
Simply put my world and the world around me revolves around chores, tasks and datelines.
There’s a schedule and dateline to almost everything…from time with God, daily hygiene routines, daily office grind of course and even social ‘chores’ like connecting with others, and calling my parents back home.
And there’s always an A-B-C, a 1–2–3 to every outcome, a…
“34 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36 and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.”- Matthew 14:34–36
They did not ask for any fancy elaborate healing rituals, fanciful words of prayer, sophisticated medication, man-made wisdom and strength…
Out of the hunger of the heart, just a touch of the edge of His cloak. In their beautiful faith, they…
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”- Psalm 34:18
A few days ago, I had the privilege to join the prayer warriors in my church for a weekend intercessory session. Being a first-timer, I was awestruck and fascinated by the energy, the fire of it, while at the same time, humbled that God came down at our level, to relate to us, to affirm us, to comfort us.
For every prayer point that we were interceding for, it was like God pouring out all my thoughts and groanings into the very pages…
“7 If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’[a] you would not have condemned the innocent.”- Matthew 12:7
Pondering through His word recently, this verse popped up to me a few times across several chapters. It seems this is what God is trying to grab my attention lately.
The first thing that came to my mind when I read this was, “Mercy”, “Sacrifice”. Aren’t both the same as both are required of a Christian? …
It’s the time of the year again, where the shopping shelves are filled with bunny-shaped chocolates, where people are busy planning for that grand Easter feast.
But Easter for some is really a season to ‘discipline’ their souls, denying themselves as how Christ did. They diligently and prayerfully fast, never even missing a single day.
As for some churches, all their hard work in those months toiling in mega productions has led to this very day. “It is the great mega call for salvation, where masses will come to Christ,” which is the ‘Easter mission’ echoed by these churches.
When was the last time when you felt that heart sank, you spirit dampened, and the very passionate fire inside you was put out by a bucket of ice water?
I for one, have felt that many times too often..
When I offered a helping hand, but ended up being a victim of manipulation
When I thought I fed someone with good advice, offered a listening ear, in hopes of offering His comfort and love. …
